‘The Greatest Concert That Never Was’ Beatles & Rolling Stones tribute to bring awareness to organ donation

Have you ever found yourself wondering about the most famous concerts that never happened? Well, you need not wonder anymore as “The Greatest Concert That Never Was” featuring The Beatles & The Rolling Stones tribute bands is happening this summer to benefit ONE8FIFTY.

The name ONE8FIFTY is a meaningful one. ONE donor can provide up to 8 life-saving organs and can provide FIFTY other individuals with tissue donation. The nonprofit aims to inspire New York State residents to register as organ donors. So what does a concert from the greatest bands of all time have to do with organ donation?

“It is always important to bring community awareness to any cause. Organ donation is something that effects the public and creating awareness to the dire needs of our family and neighbors facing organ transplant is vital,” said Tom Jasinski, founder of ONE8FIFTY. “Also, there is never a downside for people getting together, having a good time while supporting a good cause.”

Jasinski knows exactly what it feels like waiting for an organ donor to save his life, not knowing if one would ever come. He was one of the lucky ones who was able to receive a lifesaving kidney and he now uses his blessing to help others by tirelessly promoting the need for organ donations. One donor can provide up to eight people with lifesaving organs. In 2018, there were nearly 7,000 transplants from living donors.

“For families and patients facing organ transplant, giving them the visual that people can and often do make it through their transplant journey can be inspiring. Giving them cause for hope that they too can make it through and have a healthy productive life post-transplant is important,” said Jasinski.

“The Greatest Concert That Never Was” will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday July 31 at Sportsmens Park, 340 Amherst Street in Buffalo. The concert features PastMasters “Celebrating the music of The Beatles”. Special guests StoneFlower will play the music of The Rolling Stones. Opening the show will be Doug Yeomans & Sue Kincaid with Host Anita West. Presale tickets are $30; day of show $40. A limited number of VIP packages are available.
