Clyde is a black and white male cat whose story we see too often unfortunately. He came to the SPCA of Niagara the late evening of Feb. 1 after he was found on a porch on Linwood Avenue in Niagara Falls. He was hypothermic, severely dehydrated and emaciated.
Clyde was unresponsive when he came to the SPCA and was laying in a slushy puddle of his own urine. It is evident that this guy has had a rough life recently. Once admitted to the shelter, the SPCA veterinary team immediately went to work on him, giving him fluids for hydration, warming him to get his body temperature up. After his temperature stabilized, they gave him antibiotics for two pressure sores on his front feet, a dewormer for internal parasites and they offered him a small amount of food which he ate ravenously.
Clyde immediately went into a foster home where he was set up with a nice cushy bed, a heating pad and frequent meals throughout the night. He was very active this morning, demanding food by chirping and meowing at his foster mom. He is a very social and loving cat and seems very interested in being with people and even the other animals in his foster home. There is a possible home lined up for him as well so the SPCA will be sure that he is well taken care of for the rest of his days.
