Joelle Salerno works in a cancer hospital and sees families come in and out all the time, so today seemed no different than any other day until she overheard some heartbreaking news.
“I work in a clinic where people can come and donate to cancer patients. We often get loved ones of the patients in our center. Today a donor came in who recently got news that her loved one’s cancer has progressed so far that there is no available treatment left. Understandably so, this donor was upset,” she said.
Salerno just so happened to stumble upon a Sweet Buffalo Rock today that had a painted sunflower and heart on it and the words, “Be Strong.”
“As soon as I realized this I decided to give her my newly found rock because I thought she could use the message more than me today,” she said. “She was so happy when I gave it to her, I’m pretty sure it made her entire day.”
Tuns out the donor’s grandmother recently passed away and sunflowers were their thing.
“Not only was the message “Be Strong” totally what she could use, but it was kind of like it was coming from her grandmother.”
Salerno says it was so incredible to see how one tiny rock could make such a difference in someone’s life the way this one did today. ?
